Our Staff



Terri Sullivan Auten

Terri Sullivan Auten supervises a staff of highly qualified, certified and collegiate dance instructors. She handles all administrative duties so that instructors are able to concentrate on teaching the art of dance to their students. Terri enjoys being a church organist, serving as a member on a supervisory committee at a local credit union, and serving as an advocate through the Volunteer Guardian ad Litem program for children of York County that are involved in abuse or neglect.

The entire staff at Sullivan Dance Studio is looking forward to this year with newly remodeled dance facilities and many new faces that are excited and enthusiastic about dance.

Sullivan Dance Studio has been sharing the joy of dance for 31 years!



 

Andrea

Andrea Logan is an accomplished dancer and choreographer. Andrea earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1995. Andrea also studied at the North Carolina School of Arts (Now UNCSA) at The American Dance Festival. Andrea has performed with KINETIX and Martha Connerton/Kinetic Works, Sidelong Dance, David Dorfman Dance Company, Demetrius Klein Dance Company, the North Carolina Black Repertory Company, Silent Partners Mime/Movement Theatre Company, and alban elved Dance Company. She also served as a guest artist for Salem College, choreographing their concerts for two seasons. She taught physical education for two years and Winston-Salem and also taught dance and movement at Winston-Salem State University. She was also the advisor/choreographer for Wake Forest University Dance Line. In addition, she taught drama at the Discovery School in Lancaster, various elementary schools in Rock Hill School District Three, and to adults with Special Needs as funded through the Lancaster Arts Council. She has also choreographed musicals for the Lancaster County Playhouse and Buford High School and served as principal dance teacher/choreographer for Camp Kahdalea.

Andrea began her study of dance at age 2 ½ and has studied ballet, tap, jazz, baton, clogging, hip hop, African, Irish Step dance, Native American, Scottish Highland, lyrical swing dance, aerial dance and any other form of dance she can get her feet into. Andrea competed in Irish dance for three years placing 1st in her reels and slip jigs. She has studied with Clay Taliferro, Debbie Allen, Dianne Markham (Nikolais/Murray Louis), Rick McCullough (Nederland's Dans Theatre), the late Jacqueline Dorminy (Paris Ballet School), Frank Hatchett, Tabitha D'Umo, Mohammed DaCosta, among others. In addition to coaching elementary, middle and high school cheerleading, Ms. Andrea cheered professionally for the United States Basketball League. Andrea also performed with the St. Francis Players on their European tour of "Francis, the Saint from Assisi." Andrea has also helped Girl Scout troops earn dance badges.

Andrea is very active in her church and has worked in youth ministry for 12 years. She coaches her children's soccer team in her spare time. Andrea is a wife and mother of two and is excited to begin her 11th season with Sullivan Dance Studio.

Sarah

Sarah Corcoran instructs ballet, pointe, and lyrical to students of all ages. Sarah began dancing at age 9. She received dance training at the North Carolina Dance Theatre School of Dance and the North Carolina School of the Arts. Sarah has attended summer sessions at Pittsburgh Youth Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and Boston Ballet. She received dance instruction from former New York City Ballet principal dancers Melissa Hayden and Patricia McBride. She was also instructed by Nina Danilova, Mark Diamond, Warren Conover, and Franchon Cordell. Sarah has performed in many classical and contemporary ballets that include Mark Diamond's Handel Concerto and Bartok, Jean Pierre Bonnefoux's English Concerto, and Balanchine's Raymonda and Western Symphony. At the age of 15 she toured with the North Carolina Dance Theatre performing Sal Aiello's Nutcracker in New York. Sarah began her teaching and choreography career in 2007. This will be Sarah's 4th season at Sullivan Dance Studio.

RoseRose Chmielewski is a home school graduate and previous York Technical College student.  She began dancing at an early age.  She also danced competitively.  Rose has been a dance teacher assistant and substitute dance instructor for several years.  She is strong in Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Ballet, Pointe, Modern, and Hip Hop.  Her performance background includes Summer Theater productions of 42nd Street and Thoroughly Modern Millie for Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte Philharmonic and Carolina Voices.  She appeared in the North Carolina Lottery Commercial.  Rose is enthusiastic about her position at Sullivan Dance Studio as their Hip Hop instructor and choreographer for children ages 8 and up.

 

KristyKristy Cardamone is extremely excited to be joining the talented team of Sullivan Dance Studio this year.  Having danced since the age of two, she is ready to spread her love for dance and the “stage” to the next generation of dancers.  Kristy grew up in Mt. Pleasant, SC, and began dancing at the Tapio School of Dance with instruction in ballet, tap, jazz, and gymnastics.  She continued her dance studies in ballet and pointe at the Robert Ivey Ballet School in North Charleston, SC.  Kristy also studied voice with Nancy Stedman.  She performed in many musicals and plays at the Dock Street Theater and Sotille/Emmitt Robinson Theater in Charleston, SC.  During high school, Kristy was a member of the Wando High Show Choir and the Charleston Youth Company, an auditioned group of Charleston County students that sing, act, and dance.  She choreographed routines for both groups during her senior year of high school.  Kristy was also named Junior Miss South Carolina in 1999 and went on to compete at Junior Miss America in Mobile, AL.  Kristy graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Theater from Shenandoah University, Winchester, VA.  While attending Shenandoah, she studied tap, jazz, and ballet under the direction of Mary Robare and Alan Arnet, voice under the direction of Byron Jones, Dr. Thomas Albert, and Karen Keating, and acting under the direction of Harold Herman, Wade Fransen, and Bodde Bauer.  Over the course of her four years, she appeared in a number of productions as an ensemble/dance member, the role of Mary Phagan in Parade, and an aerialist/acrobatic in Carnival.  She was Zanita in Shenandoah’s Professional Summer Theater production of The Music Man.  Kristy also performed with the dance majors in various Student Choreography Showcases.  Since moving to the area, Kristy has worked with the Children’s Theater of Charlotte as May Belle Aarons in Bridge to Terabithia.  She is also actively involved in directing the drama and musical productions, singing in the choir and choreographs routines for the children’s choir at Rawlinson Road Baptist Church.  Kristy lives in York with her husband, six year old daughter, two year old son, and two dogs.

 

AmeliaAmelia Hartsell Binford is the Dance Department Chairperson at Northwest School of the Arts in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System.  She is in her sixth year as a middle and high school modern dance and jazz instructor at Northwest School of the Arts.  She is a graduate of Winthrop University earning degrees in Dance Performance and Dance Education.  While at Winthrop, she performed in Rhythm Quest, Winthrop Dance Theater and the Senior Choreography Showcase.  She is also an instructor at the Charlotte School of Ballet where she instructs classes in tap and jazz.  She has performed in the Charlotte Philharmonic Christmas Show and the Singing Christmas Tree and with the Sinergismo Dance Ensemble of Charlotte, North Carolina.  She also appeared as Bebe in the Theater Charlotte production of A Chorus Line.  Amelia was a semi finalist in the “So You Think You Can Dance” 2006 season.  At Northwest School of the Arts, Amelia has served as assistant choreographer in their productions of Pippin, 42nd Street, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Music Man, and Aida and as choreographer for Les Miserables, Suessical Jr., and Fiddler on the Roof Jr.  She was the recipient of the 2010 Metrolina Theater Association Award for Outstanding Choreography in a Drama for Marat/Sade performed at Charlotte Actor’s Studio Theater (C.A.S.T.).  Although a dancer in her heart, she also has a passion for Musical Theater. She currently is the choreographer for Charlotte Academy of Music’s Glee Camp.  Amelia is excited to be a new member of the Sullivan Dance Studio family and would like to thank Mrs. Jo and Mrs. Terri for the opportunity.  “To Dance is To Live!!”
